Bellmore Sally is a best priced 3-1 to add to her £20K PGR Golden Jacket win with victory in the £15K Ladbrokes TV Trophy, the traditional showpiece of the marathon scene. She looks certain to go to traps at very short odds-on for her heat at 12.24.

It is one thing to stay 714m, something ENTIRELY different to see out the 874 and every one of the ‘souped up’ 650m runners (you can get away with it on the tight Crayford circuit), will get caught out here. On that basis, Ower Smasher looks the most likely in here. She powered away over 714m and although she has never been quite this far, she looks the ‘most likely’. Beach Babe does have form over this distance having finished second in the Cesarewitch, but she is held by June Harvey’s bitch on Oxford form.

A similar story in the second qualifier which features the second and third in the Golden Jacket Final, Roll On Sydney and Olga. Luna Jezabelle was beaten on the same card in 874 and although she has won since, her looks vulnerable late on. If you are seeking the marathon freak (in the nicest sense of the word), then look no further than A Mystical Love who was barely ‘on the screen’ with a lapt to run against Night Time Danny but flew home. Backers will certainly be emboldened if Ower Smasher does the business in the first qualifier, ‘Mystical’ was arguably travelling even stronger at the line.

Will she or won’t she see out the trip? Nobody knows. But if you were looking for a ‘best guesser’ you could do worse than follow the judgement of trainer Jimmy Fenwick. It is a long way from Morpeth to Dartford and ‘Wor Jimmy’ wouldn’t be making the trip if he wasn’t certain that Bellmore Sally could see it through. As for the runner-up Droopys Jungle would probably be the first in the queue if they decided to add on another half lap, or even half a dozen.
