It was Carl Perry’s idea to put pressure on his Sheffield tipsters league by introducing a relegation battle. With the pressure on, he delivered first time out on Tuesday.

Carl tipped up his own Geelo Mini Bee (£40 @ evens) and Ballymac Conte (£60 at 5-6f) and both did the business for a profit of £90 on the night.

While Carl was trapping in front off a flying sectional Nick Taylor and Conor Wrigglesworth were having a head-to head like a couple of dodgy hurdlers. They went for selections in the same two races. Lightfoot Craig let them both down when finishing second.

Nick went with a confident £70 on 8-15f Keefil Finn in the next, Conor went with the big priced Coney Culiacan. The jolly delivered giving Nick Taylor a net profit on the night of £7.33.

** We had a number of people get in touch before lockdown with offers to get involved in the tipsters challenge. It’s all a bit of fun (and bragging rights). The early feedback has been excellent and I am cracking on with plans to expand it to every RPGTV meeting.

‘Wor Jimmy’ Fenwick plans to nominate two class class tipping opponents for the Newcastle challenge, and Peter Walker is sourcing a team for Swindon. If the idea appeals – drop us a mail at [email protected] – Thanks Ed

The trio go into tonight’s meeting at SHEFFIELD like two Germans and an Austrian. Carl Perry is all Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool), Nick Taylor is the mid table Ralph Hasenhutti (Southampton) with Conor decidely Daniel Farke (Norwich). No pressure though!

Carl Perry:

No runners for me this evening but still managed to pick out few good bets. Rockforest Hugo (R4 T1) has a great draw to work from should get a great run up the inside into the bend and if turning handy will be coming home strong. £40 win

Rackethell Bale (R9 T2) ran very well first time back to finish second in this grade can only see him leading up in this line up and taking some beating. The pup Kennys Dream (T1) has scope for improvement  and looks the main danger £60win

Nick Taylor:

I’m going for the car with one selection on tonight’s card, mainly because I struggled to find anything else to spread my stakes across. So I’m taking a chance on Droopys Blush (R6 T4) who receives almost a double drop in class compared to last weeks race where she was massively outclassed. That race was won in 29.33 and 3rd 4th and 5th have all come out and won convincingly since. She will need things to fall in place for her being an out and out stayer but anything like a return to her best form can see her land the spoils here, £100 win

Conor Wrigglesorth

Barrie Draper’s Rockforest Hugo (R4 T1) has some improvement to do on his last trial to be able to beat Steve Naylor’s Burkies Army. Rockforest Hugo clocked a 29.61 in his last trial but missed the kick, only doing a 4.46 split. However, pre-lockdown he was clocking low 4.30s as well doing low 29 runs. Burkies Army (R4 T4) looks to have enough early pace to lead up and will surely come on for the run in his last trial when he recorded a 29.48. Rockforest Hugo did a 16.20 sprint trial post lockdown and I believe that he has the ability to show his early pace and come on from his 500m trial last week. £30 win
Lightfoot Candy (R7 T1) missed his break last week and couldn’t catch the winner but ran very well in defeat. Woodcocks Romeo will be the likely leader as he clocked a 4.26 sectional in his last trial on the 6th June and looks to have a leaders chance. However, Lightfoot Candy has a recent 4.29 split himself and hopefully can trap better tonight than his previous race to be able to drop in a handy position on the first bend. He should be coming home strong enough to win. £40 win
Unique Jeff was unlucky last week due to missing his break and not being able to get a clear run around the 1st bend. He has the second fastest time in the race since lockdown. The fastest time goes Joanne Lowe’s Peakaboo Shadow who produced an impressive trial on the 27th May clocking a time of 16.31. This would be Unique Jeff’s main danger if Peakaboo Shadow reproduces his trial. Before lockdown Barrie Drapers’s Loki had been running in D1’s and had clocked a 16.27, which would certainly be good enough to win this race. However, it appears that Loki will need this race to help with his race fitness. Unique Jeff should hopefully trap better tonight and get a clear run. £30 win
