Day 2 of the tipping challenge and tonight we concentrate on just one meeting – Sheffield.
But before that, a quick resume of Monday’s offering. Each of the three tipsters was allowed to invest a mythical £100 in a maximum of three bets.
The star of the night at Nottingham was bookie Mal Shenton who tipped (Colin Wilton’s!!!) Superb Beauty (£50 @ 3-1) and Tybar Onyx (£50 @ 6-4) for a profit of £225. Mark Pierrepont turned in a handy £83.75 profit courtesy of Coyote Breeze (£70 @ 13-8). Colin Wilton hit the bar twice with two seconds.
The Star of East Anglia was Nigel Tanner – one selection – one win – Forgotton Angel (£100 @ 15-8) for a profit of £187-50. Get in! Andy Mullen had one bet – and a near miss with Craan Tara beaten three quarters of a length. There was a blank night for Liam Aspin’s double selections.
Overall – between them, there were 10 runners for 4 winners and 4 seconds
Onto tonight’s meeting at SHEFFIELD and a man who was due to make his punditry debut on the first night of lockdown – we are talking local trainer Carl Perry.
Carl says: “I will be taking on two fella Sheffield regulars on our three RPGTV meetings per week. I have decided to keep the same two challengers far a two week period then the lowest ranked will be replaced by the next challenger and have to carry the shame off being relegated lol.
My first opponents are the Sheffield expert and partner of trainer Kirsty Grayson, Nick Taylor. The second one (the young apprentice) is Conor Wrigglesworth son off trainer Sean Davey. Both are Sheffield regulars and experts and should offer a good mix off selections and different approaches for punters.
The views:
Carl Perry:
I’ll go with one off my own as our dogs have returned from lockdown in great shape, Geelo Mini Bee (R1 5:06) looks a sure fire leader and although her first 4 bend race for a long time can see her getting clear in this line up and being hard to peg back £40 win
My second selection Ballymac Conte (R9 9:06) lines up in a D2 after just competing in a top grade D1. This looks a big step down in class and judge on his comeback trials 16.16 will be enough to win this race. I rate him as the nap off the night £60 win bet
Nick Taylor:
My next best Lightfoot Craig (R4 18.36) looks a level above the rest. His lack of early pace means he often has to win the hard way and it won’t be any different here. With T3 and T6 the most likely leaders, and neither being strong stayers, all Craig needs is any sort of run in behind and he could blow these away £30 win
My nap Keefill Finn (R5 19.06) looks to have a plum draw. He looks very worthy of a full stake bet here but I don’t expect anyone to get rich from betting him which is why I edged my bets. Geelo Davey (T3) is a big danger but Our Ellas Prince (T2) is usually a lid pinger and will be moving off. Therefore there’s a good chance she will stop Davey getting a clear run to the bend leaving Finn clear to pick up the win £70 win
Conor Wrigglesorth
Lightfoot Craig (R4 18.36) was unlucky in his last race. He did his running from behind as usual but couldn’t get to the winner. Black Sparkle is likely to lead out of the traps as she clocked a 4.42 split last time out. However, Lightfoot Craig’s main danger is Jamie Smith’s Knockra Tom. He’s capable of dropping second on the first bend and has the recently clocked a 29.87, the fastest in the race. If Lightfoot Craig gets a clear run he shouldn’t be far away. I think he will come on from the run last week. £50 win
Coney Culiacan (R5 19.06) has made an impressive comeback from the lockdown, clocking 16.20s consistently in its two come back trials and winning in a D2. There is a couple of dogs that have just turned two year old that are lightly race and open to improvement. Geelo Davey (June 18) also won last time out for trainer Carl Perry clocking a very good 16.20, as well as Keefill Finn (June 18) coming second in the D1 last week clocking a 16.24 for trainer Barrie Draper. Even though these two dogs are open to improvement I have been impressed by the quick away consistency and improvement on the times of Coney Culiacan. He should hopefully get a clear run on the outside. £50 win
