It was a truly historic night at ROMFORD. Champion trainer Mark Wallis sent out 12 runners and didn’t have a single winner. What! This is the trainer who has finished leading open race trainer at London Road every year for the last decade.
Jason Gander advised ‘any odds should be mopped up’ with his £100 maximum bet on Sparta Master. “Any odds” turned out to be 4-7f, for a £44 profit on the night. Nathan Hunt had a second winning week courtesy of Bang On Annie (£40 @ 5-2) for a £40 profit on the night. Mark wasn’t the only one out of touch. Looks like he and Paul Binks were both in need of the outing.
There was only one winner from the combined five selections at Nottingham. However it was a shrewd £25 on 10-1 winner Seattle Lord for Alan Bellis for a £175 profit on the night. Mark Pierrepont is feeling like Jurgen Klopp felt on Friday morning.
HOVE
So onto tonight at HOVE and with the greatest respect to Peter Walker, you are just in there to hold the jackets today! The main event is the Hove equivalent of ‘AJ v Fury’ in terms of titles and bragging rights as Seamus and Teresa Cahill go head-to-head. As in senior matters of the ring, I hope we can get contracts signed for a re-match, with marriage guidance counsellor @TVdarrell putting his neck on the line.

Fawn Samuari (R2 T3) Nicely bred Oct 18 pup from Forest Con he has only had 3 races to date but I liked him when I saw him trialing back after lockdown. Been unlucky in two race back but I think tonight it is a race of 3 x 2016 and 3 x 2018 dogs. Hoping for a clean run to bend and he should open his account. £25 win
Dinner Efokia (R5 T5) ‘Ali’ as we call her in the kennel has only had three races and hopefully should have a bit of experience now. Last week she broke well but was hampered at the bend. She is drew between some slower starters either side of her today. £50 win
Droopys Outcome (R9 T4) We have Noirs Daniel in the race he has a lot of early but the handy sized Droopys Outcome looks a nice finisher, She has been in the silver slot in only 2 races but I think we could be in the silver slot tonight £25 win
Seamus Cahill:
Get on Minnie (R6 T1) A homebred bitch from Forest Con who is a trap 1 bitch. She has her draw tonight and with a nice break she should be capable of winning this. She should improve. £50 win
Yassoo Patrick (R7 T1) A nicely bred young dog who is open to a lot of improvement. £25 win
Woodmancote Roxy (R10 T6) This bitch ran really well and finished second in a hotter contest last time out.
Claude’s dogs are running well and she should go one better this time. £25 win.
Went for a bit of value in my selections last week (come back open racing, all is forgiven) but obviously they didn’t follow the script! Talking of opens, we have the Coral Regency and Sussex Cup category one competitions to relish soon. In the meantime, it’s all graded action again with selections from both ends of the spectrum.
Claude Gardiner’s young bitch Droopys Outcome (R9, T4) has ran a couple of promising races finishing runner-up at this level as well as a trial over six bends. Although unseeded, she tends to run a middle course so trap 4 should not be an issue. It is only a matter of time before she gets her nose in front and I’m hoping her potential is realised in her third attempt at an A2. £50 win.
In the penultimate A11 event, Richard Rees has two runners but Lady In Kalu (R11, T1) has shown plenty of dash to the first bend. She has several downgraded rivals to threaten her chance as well as other unseeded runners but a good break from the inside rail may mean she is beyond recall.£50 win
SHEFFIELD
Clear difference of opinion on races nine and ten at Sheffield.

Sonic Bubba (R9 T1) has comeback in fine form from lockdown winning his A3 then A2 beating the two dog, Easy To Gamble. I see it as a very similar race. Get a nice slot in behind the blue and take it up coming home Fire Height Chaz (T3) could be a massive danger to Sonic Bubba if leading trap 2, but can’t see him doing that £40 win
The very progressive and exciting pup Keefill Arthur looks the certain leader of race 10. With by far the best early pace in this line up he would be the one to catch. With that in mind, I’m going to take a chance that Rockforest Hugo (R10 T2) is going to turn second. There are staying dogs in one and three. Hugo stays well himself, but lately he is showing more early pace in his races. So I’ll take a chance he sits behind Arthur and comes trough late on to grab victory £60 win.
Nick Taylor:
Next up is Fire Height Chaz (R9 T3) who looks set up for a front runners chance here. There isn’t any early pace inside him here although the one is a very strong running sort but I can’t see her getting round the two early enough to catch Chaz who should skip clear and not get caught, £40 win £40 win.
Glencroft Magic (R9 T5) was certainly impressive when he made his debut last week in an A3 cannoning out in a 4.22 split and leading putting some distance from the others up to the third bend. My concern in this race is Sonic Bubba as if he gets a clear run on the rail he will be powering home and will probably pick Glencroft Magic up. If he leads like he did last week I’m hoping he can get himself far enough in front to be able to hold the others off when coming on the home straight £15 win
Keefill Arthur (R10 T4) is a youngster who has some seriously early pace clocking sub 4.30 splits on a regular basis and I believe his early pace will get him around the bend clear from the others. However, his main danger looks to be Ballydoyle Frank who is having his first race back after being off for 12 months from his last race. Even though Ballydoyle Frank has been clocking some impressive sprint and 500 trial times he will have to do his running from behind, which will surely put his race fitness to the test. I think this will be hard for Ballydoyle Frank and his lack of racing may cost him the win. £45 win
