We gave the boys the big build-up on Friday. Oops. Possibly the worst night since all this started.

We won’t talk about the losses, we’ll concentrate on the wins. It won’t take long. At Nottingham, of the six selections there was one winner, and four seconds. So step forward Don Henley (not the American singer) with £70 @ 10-11 on Plaza Beauty for a profit of £33.64.

At Romford Billy Brennan‘s big fancy Dapper Sue was KO’d at the first bend, while Jason Gander‘s £70 selection Aero Wolves sadly went lame and was beaten a distance. A sad story.

Tonight there are some new faces from HOVE plus our most consistent winning group of tipsters to date – SHEFFIELD

HOVE

A first appearance on the chart for Hove and a head-to-head with breeder and owner Peter Walker taking on fellow judge Ryan Conneely.

Most of you may know I calculate my own greyhound race ratings mainly on the open racing scene but now I am analysing Hove’s graded race meeting on Saturday evening. Although Hove is a fair and consistent track, it’s a tricky card on paper so probably prudent to avoid going ‘all in’ on one selection. Bearing that in mind and without prior knowledge of any odds at this stage, I’ve spread the fictional stake between two runners.

Belinda Green’s well drawn bitch Ballymac Rosino (R9, T4) showed an improved performance very recently following a double upgrade after a move from Crayford. She seems suited to the track and capable of winning this graded A6 with a fairly decent break. £50 win.

In the penultimate race, Wendy Short’s veteran Swift Edgar (R11, T6) has been downgraded and must have a good chance of taking this although does need to clear the other wide runner on his inside to dominate. He ran commendably at A3 level only a few months ago and this is an A5. £50 win.

Ryan Conneely:

Redeye Lightning (R7 T5) Was well backed last week but after a moderate break found trouble at the first bend but shown enough to suggest with a clearer run will go close in this grade. £30 win

Sanctuary Queen (R10 T2 ) Completely fluffed the start last week when odds on but anything close to a level break will see this bitch turn the first bend in front and that will be that. £30 win

Alanas Roddick (R12 T4) Made her debut last week and found trouble immediately with crowding on the run-up. From then on though she shown that she will not be in A8 for long. Has been given a friendly draw with not much early pace on her outside and I expect her to turn in a pitch and be ahead off the last bend. £40 win

SHEFFIELD

This trio have been consistently the best since we kicked off just under a fortnight ago, but the brutal team captain Carl Perry has put everyone under pressure by threatening to replace the least successful member with relegation for next week.

After a good study looks a card full off good things I’ll put up the three main fancies but could have gone with double that. (3 that made the shortlist but missed the cut were: Swift Model, Sonic Stormi, Worsboro Cookie)

Geelo Davey (R2 T3) Probably the dog in the kennel who’s benefited most from lockdown. He has come back a lot better and a pleasant surprise how well he’s improved. Was caught on the line in a good D1 last time bye a good winner Keefill Finn and a repeat of that run should take him very close. £30 win
A gift from the grader Coney Kroll (R4 T3) won pulling a bus in A7 and only received a one grade lift in a line up where only one other dog has broke 30 seconds. A lightly raced bitch and in form makes Coney Kroll max bet selection £40 win.
Harton Larry (R7 T3) Caught the eye staying on third beat just over a length first time back surely benefit from the race back and a drop into A6 should see him get back among the winners. £30 win
Nick Taylor
On a card where we could see a few very short priced favourites winning, I’m hopefully taking the play it safe route.
If Geelo Davey (R2 T3)  repeats anything like his two runs post lockdown then he will take a world of beating here. He’s come back trapping better than ever and was very unlucky not to have made it 2/2 last week when getting caught close home. He has the perfect draw to run away a cosy winner here. £100 win
Conor Wrigglesworth:
NAP of the night Coney Kroll (R4 T3). She ran a very impressive race and if she reproduces her run last week then I can’t see her getting beat. Geelo Mini Bee won her A6 last week in 29.68 and went into an A4. However, Coney Kroll wins A7 in 29.68 and goes into A6 only. £100 bet
