Swedish author Hans Rosling is internationally famous for his books exposing public misconceptions about humanity. What percentage of children globally have access to clean water? What is the average lifespan of an African male? He always offers his readers three options, A, B or C. More often than not, the participants score worse than a monkey being offered a choice of three bananas, one of which is labelled for the right answer: A B or C.

On Sunday we asked three widely acknowledged and respected judges to pick winners at Central Park. They made eight selections – six different dogs – and managed ONE 1-3f winner between them.

Just for the record, Mr Rab McNair (£20 loss) was closest to choosing the right banana. Mr Patrick Janssens and Mr Tony Collett went banana-less.

Piemans Prince (R1 T3) Looks the best bet on the card at Nottingham tonight.  Approaching 5 years of age in August but is a credit to his trainer Colin Wilton and his team.  Had been running well in defeat in some good class A3 events post comeback from lock down and gained the victory he deserved when winning comfortably at that level last time out.  Connections must be pleased not to have been raised to A2 after recording 3037 (+50) and trainer Wilton was likely rubbing his hands with glee upon seeing the card.  Making one of his regular guest appearances on the RPGTV channel this evening I’d be surprised if Prince didn’t form the cornerstone of his more fancied selections.  Can take a smash break from his ideal starting berth and should be looking menacing from a very early stage for the Piemans crew.  Would advise availing of early prices if and where possible as this team rarely leave their fancied runners unbacked and rarer still that they leave the dough behind. £100 win

Richard Genders:

Anna Thompson

Tickity Kara (R5 T4) Nice young bitch who won well for me at this level of A5 on her career debut and posted an excellent for a pup 507 split in the process.  Has been a little bit of a learning curve for her since but fitness is improving race by race and is in a race tonight where she should be able to lead up the dogs drawn either side.  Fancy her to go well if doing so. £20 win

Kellies Sapphire (R8 T2) – Young September 18 bitch pup who has got any amount of improvement left in her.  Was improving trial by trial and I didn’t think she’d been harshly treated for her debut last week when winning well in A7 company.  The team at Nottingham try to be fair with the pups and I must thank them for that and though up in class tonight she’s a winning chance again.  Left a little on the track again last week when checking sough which highlights how green she is at this stage.  Fully expect this bitch to move up through the grades and if not tonight keep her in your notebooks as won’t be long in winning again and should pay to follow £50 win

Movealong Magnum (R12 T4) This will be this greyhound’s final race for ourselves before he moves on to pastures new.  A reproduction of his last time out sectional of 501 should be enough to see him scoot clear and though there are a few strong runners in the race I fancy that he’ll build up enough of a lead to hold them off in the final stages £30 win

A very tightly graded card tonight and I’ve gone for 2, very tentative picks! The first goes in the eighth race, Tullig Pearl (T3) for Kevin Cobbold. She’s probably the most consistent at the boxes out of all of these and if stealing a march could make all. There’s a few in here that want to lead but I just thinks she’s best drawn and can get first run. Roisin Brexit is the danger if turning handy. She’s the strongest runner in the race. £50 win.

My final pick of the evening is Abigails Canary (R10 T2), for Paul Burr. This bitch has only had 9 careers starts in England and Ireland and been a winner of 4 of those. She has already notched up a win for Paul and looks as though she can go on to better things in the future. She’s drawn outside Fades N Blades who is usually slow to go and if doing so, Abigails Canary could hook herself on the rail and show her class. £50 win

Nigel Tanner:

For Nigel’s first pick of the evening he goes for Fisher Raya(R3 T1), for David Carter. Nigel said, “I’ve been waiting for this dog to get trap 1. It’s been crying out for red since post lockdown.” £70 win

Nigel’s final pick is Turnthatphoneoff (R4 T1) for Irene Barnard. Nigel said, “One of my favourite dogs at Yarmouth, formerly trained by Nick Skiggs, with a slow starter in 2 could get a nice run into the race” £30 Win

Craig Samuels:

Craig has also gone for 2 picks this evening, the first being kennel star, Aberlady (R7 T3).  Craig said, “Another tightly graded card, my first pick is Aberlady, she is now coming to hand and this race looks like one she can lead in if breaking like she can. Can lead the inside 2 dogs and this bitch loves to get the rail at the first bend! If leading out of second she will take some catching” £60 win

Final pick for Craig is Seleom Blue (R10 T5), for Sandra Clayton. Craig said, “My second pick is Seldom Blue. Sandra Claytons bitch showed a big step in the right direction last week, if brushing up on her trapping I can see her leading all the way in this race, the bitch has done 28.00 and that would be good enough to win this race. ” £40 win
