Trying to avoid picture quiz overload, this is our first since last Thursday. As usual, it isn’t necessarily about knowing the answers, as a good excuse to re-air some old photos or possibly learn some new information.
Here are Thursday’s answers:
The main photo showed Mark Wallis parading Adageo Bob for his final race and victory in the Essex Vase.
The Yarmouth Derby presentation was made by the track’s founder, (Simon Franklin’s grandfather) Len Franklin.
The gent leaning over the hare rail was Sam Young, who ran the Dunmore track in Northern Ireland which for a period of time raced on the Bramich Hare.
Ernie Gaskin was pictured with Curryhills Gara (left) and Signal Spark (right)
The picture of the Irish stadium was the old Cork track in Western Road.
The lady holding the Meenala Cruiser was of course Julie Bateson.
The Oaks racecard photo was a trick question because the winner Ballinasloe Blondie actually won the race twice. This was the first final from 1961.
Barrie and Mark Draper were pictured with their 2011 Laurels winner Eden Star.
The kennel girl holding Linacre is future trainer Hazel Dickson
Finally, the picture of the two Lords at Peterborough was to celebrate the first Sunday race meeting – which was unlawful until 1995.
And so onto today:
