Joe’s Tuesday Tips

***8.14 Central Park – Wonderful Abi (3pts) 7/4
**7.39 Central Park – Tintreach Guns (3pts) 7/4
*8.49 Central Park – King Richie (3pts) 11/8

One from three Monday at Nottingham takes us into three graded selections at Central Park this evening.

The nap runs in the 491m handicap at 8.14pm. Trap six Wonderful Abi has been cutting it with the very best on the track including Tintreach Guns, King Stevens and Tintreach Tiny so, a different type of race could suit. She stays well in top grade company and although she is giving 15m to trap one Karlow Vic, she has enough pace early to close in on the leader. Trap five Drowsy Paddy is the main danger receiving 5m from the selection but I fully expect Wonderful Abi to get the gaps required and put in a last to first performance.

The nest best is trap one Tintreach Guns in the A1 at 7.39pm. A winner of a stronger A1 seven days ago, Tintreach Guns has again been given the red jacket and looks set to dominate from the second bend where I would fancy him to be in front of Swift Ubiquity who possesses nice early speed. If Tintreach Guns breaks in a similar fashion to last week, he takes all the beating in this contest with trap four Affane Bailey looking to pounce on any mistakes by the leaders.

The final bet for the evening is trap one King Richie in the A4 at 8.49pm. An April 23 puppy, impeccably bred out of Magical Bale and Queen Beyonce, King Richie is two from eight at the track and should continue to go through the grades at a rapid pace if he keeps improving. A 29.70 victory in A5 two runs ago was followed by a promising run in third on his first A4 start, however, he found trouble spots. If trapping on terms this evening, I would expect King Richie to lead and any improvement on a 29.70 run two runs ago will see him go close to winning in A4 at the second time of asking.

25/1 and 9/1 surprises at Nottingham

Monday’s opens saw a pair of bigger-priced winners from the five races.

Punters were ahead early on with Christopher Gilbert’s Tip Top Maverick landing the odds in a sprint. His 17.82 read well in race action after a string of decent trial times before racing, more on those below.

Colin Wilton landed a one-two in a 500m contest, though favourite Crafty Pardiso found her kennelmate Tens On gone beyond recall, winning in 29.91. Salacres Tipster followed up his Gone To The Dogs – Live! win for Peter Harnden, going a single spot slower than Tens On.

The best battle that night had been Vale Bluebell just running down Salacres Cath over 740m but both were beaten by Jason Gray’s 9/1 shot Loxleys Forest on their return to 680m. 41.72 was the winning time. Dean Blackbird was responsible for the 25/1 winner Emers Macie. The Sunderland runner won a sprint contest in 18.18.

National Sprint Trial session

There were some smart trials at Nottingham last night ahead of the National Sprint.

Rioja Oisin was the quickest of the session, clocking 17.45. That is just 11 spots off the current track record set by Target Harris back in June 2014. He has quickly become the top sprinter in the country and this competition is a great chance for Kevin Hutton’s dog to cement that place.

He will get some stiff opposition with recent PGR Classic winner Bramble Linton producing 17.58. Aero Pattika showed up well in his 17.61 beating of Cree Jo Jo. The latter should improve for the look around. Ballinabola Bill was another to produce a quick time, stopping the clock at 17.64.

The £7,500 to the winner competition will start on Monday, December 9 with entries closing this Friday, December 6 at 11am.
