An evening of graded action at Central Park and Crayford where we find the best bets.
The Nap goes in the A1 at 8.47pm where Trap Five King Stevens returns to home soil having run well in defeat at Hove last week in a minor open race. Prior to last weeks run he had won two A1s on the bounce beating Lostrigg Joel by over three lengths on July 26.
This is a tough A1 with Miami Patrol on his immediate inside in Trap Four a big danger if out trapping King Stevens but a smart exit for King Stevens can see him lead and win.
The Next Best runs in the 9.23pm at Central Park. A5 is the grade and Trap Four Hollyoak Katie looks well drawn to run a big race.
If breaking on level terms she should have enough early pace to lead the inside trio, Annes Elias can potentially go up to the bend with Hollyoak Katie but from the second bend I would fancy Hollyoak Katie to have too much for her biggest rival in Trap Two and go onto win the race.
The value bet of the evening is Trap One Jimonfaya in the A2 at 7.16pm Crayford.
This strong running dog was running well in this grade at big prices before going back over 540m trip and a race at Towcester where he found himself in with Barntick Bear. He Won an S1 last time out in good style and with plenty of early pace in the race, it could suit the strong runner on the inside to take advantage of any mistakes by the leaders.
Freddie sets Puppy Classic standard
It was the opening round of the JenningsBet Puppy Classic last night at Nottingham. For the third week in a row at Colwick Park, David Mullins’ March On Freddie was the fastest of the night. His 29.49 was enough to put more than five lengths between him and Syd Zafiro who was a Juvenile Classic finalist at Towcester.
Missile One produced a 29.77 to safely book his semi-final spot for Seamus Cahill. He took his career record to 4/5 in the process with only Patrick Browne’s Riverside Gin getting the better of him so far.
Another Hove raider successful on the night was Matt Dartnall’s Fire And Ice. 500m is as far as he wants to go at this stage of his career but his pace from two to three will keep him right in the mix. He stopped the clock in 29.96 off a 5.05 split, the fastest sectional of the night.
The three other heats were won by Blackhouse Kim (30.08 – Stuart Ray), Swift Underwater (30.19 – John Lambe) and Crafty Elmo (30.39 – Colin Wilton). The semi-final draw was done immediately afterwards with two heat winners ending up in each of the three semis.

Select Stakes Reminder
Nottingham reminds trainers that nominations for the JenningsBet Select Stakes (500m) and JenningsBet Select Stayers (730m) are required by 11 am on Friday.
This year’s Select Stakes, won last year by Ireland’s Clona Duke, is worth a record £12,500 to the winner, while the Select Stayers winner takes away £2,000.
Both one-offs will feature as part of a gala card at the Colwick Park track on Bank Holiday Monday (August 26).

Roberts eying Steel City Cup
Pape Di Oro has the BresBet Steel City Cup as a possible target after returning to the track for a sprint trial at Owlerton Stadium on Sunday.
Savva Roberts’ runner, who made a splash in the Coral Silver Maiden Final at Romford in January, has endured a stop-start schedule since but looked in good order with a slick 16.12sec spin before racing on Sunday.
“He seemed okay the next day and, while we’re taking it step by step with him, it’s definitely worth a go. That was a decent sprint for being off so long, although has had some work on the gallops.
“Let’s see how he progresses but it would be nice to get him there.”
Pape Di Oro, a May 2021 son of Droopys Sydney, blasted to a brilliant 23.80sec success with winning the Category Two competition at Romford.
Hot Weather Policy
As anticipated, four meetings: Central Park, Romford, Swindon and Towcester, were cancelled ahead of time prior to Monday’s extreme temperatures. The restrictions on racing in adverse climatical conditions are integral to GBGB’s hot weather policy.
