Joe’s Tuesday Tips

***NAP*** 6.59 Crayford – Droopys Promise
**NB** 7.56 Central Park – Franco Skye
*Value Bet* 8.13 Central Park – Droopys Commute

We head to Crayford for the Nap of the evening.

At 6.59pm the strong running, S1 winning Droopys Promise drops back in trip to 380m and finds herself in a four dog A6 from trap two with nothing inside her.

Recent runs over the 540m trip including victories in 34.39 and 34.40 in top grade so the drop back in trip and quality over four bends should not be in issue for Droopys Promise. Any kind of run for this bitch would see her go onto have too much for her three rivals.

We go to Central Park for the next best. I’m going to give Franco Skye another chance in the D2 at 7.56pm in trap one.

I put Franco Skye up last week and was beaten fairly by Beebees Dreamer who has solid D1 form on the card. However, this would be a slightly easier assignment for Franco Skye. If coming away on terms, should hold her running line heading into the first bend and can stay on strongly to win.

We stay at Central Park for the value bet. Droopys Commute runs in the A2 at 8.13pm from trap one and has shown enough recently to suggest he should be up to winning in this grade.

He has gone a while without winning having last won a handicap on June 10. With Swift Preston on his immediate outside in trap two who will edge off slightly, it should allow Droopys Commute a clear run.

If getting that clear run he can show is impressive pace from the second bend onwards to go on and score this evening.

Freddie marches to new quickest of the year

David Mullins’ pup runs riot to set a new fastest time of the year over 500m.

Just a week on from producing a Nottingham leading 29.37, March On Freddie improved another 13 spots to 29.24 (+40) last night. Only Romeo Command went quicker in 2023 and no dogs in 2022. That puts the puppy in some rarefied air ahead of the JenningsBet Puppy Classic later in the month.

March On Kit made it a double for connections for the second week in a row. She was always in control of the Standard Trophy Final off a 5.05 split. Good Romeo won for Lynn Cook over the 480m trip. From a smart litter than includes Miss Syd and Harlequin Ernie, he made it 3/3 since coming back from a break.

The trials before racing last night were also hugely informative. Links Maverick went well over two bends, clocking 17.65. Both Fire And Ice and Syd Zafiro clocked sub 30 seconds in 500m efforts.

Ladbrokes Gold Cup & Summer Stayers

MONMORE reminds trainers that both the Ladbrokes Gold Cup (480m) and Ladbrokes Summer Stayers Classic (630m) close to entries at 11 am tomorrow (Wednesday).

Both are for 36 runners and worth £10,000 each with heats this Saturday, the semi-finals on Saturday week and a gala card at the Wolverhampton track on Saturday, August 24.

Tom Heilbron’s Links Maverick won last year’s Ladbrokes Gold Cup, while Liz McNair’s Fromposttopillar edged Droopys Clue, the subsequent Greyhound of the Year, in a thrilling Ladbrokes Summer Stayers Classic.

Supporting competitions will also be held with the @Monmoredogs Dash (264m) and Peter Billingham Memorial Trophy (480m) two Category Three events.

Heats will be run on Saturday, August 17 and the final a week later part of the Gold Cup and Summer Stayers Classic card for an open-race extravaganza.
