Despite the presence of two heavyweight Irish stars, Newinn Syd duly completed his unbeaten run through the £20,000 Premier Greyhound Racing Eclipse Stake at Nottingham.

This is how the big race went. . .

First of all news that all six runners made their way to the pick-up for an improptu get-together. .

And this morning, Michelle Connolly and Mike Davis, two thirds of the MWD Partnership (with Mark Wallis) and Newinn Syd’s breeder Shari-Anne O’Donnell, reflected on a fabuous night (apologies for the sound quality).

Newinn Syd’s victory takes Mark Wallis’ prize money tally for the year to a little over £246,000, as he clawed back some of the deficit on Graham Hollland who has netted £264,000.

The English Derby winning trainer, based in the appropriately named Irish village of Golden, has more than double the prize money tally of his closest rival in Ireland. With Clonbrien Treaty landing the Irish Leger, taking his tally this year to €117K (less than €18K behind Irish Derby winner The Other Kobe), the kennel treasure chest now rests at €396K.
