Carl Perry landed a ‘Geelo’ 1-2 in the £500 final of a dual distance bitches stake at SHEFFIELD on Tuesday night.
The favourite was Geelo Brenny (T4 6-4f) who produced a career best performance in the 480m heats. But in the 500m decider, she was left to chase home 5-1 shot Geelo Zip (Ballymac Eske-Emers Ivy, Aug 15) who led all the way to cross the line in 28.99 (+10), winning distance three quarters of a length
The outstanding four bend performance of the night came from Jaxx Teller (Tullymurry Act-Best Special, Nov 14) in a supporting 500m open. The Norman Melbourne trained 5-2 chance led at the first and clocked 28.59, just three quarters of a length off the fastest time of the year.
Over six bend, the quickest of the three heats of a maiden stayers event was Russ Warren’s Swift Marvelette (Vans Escalade-Swift Louis, Apr 15) with a 38.87 victory (FOY 38.73).
