Ballymac Ramsay (Droopys Scolari-Ballymac Razl, Mar 14) made it seven wins from 12 outings with an impressive heat win in the Towcester Racecourse Puppy Stakes.
Barrie Draper’s blue clocked night’s fastest sectional (4.09) on his way to the fastest ‘480’ with an impressive six length win over Yabba Kelly in 28.30 (-20). The other qualifier went to the locally trained Experto Crede (Godsend-Swift Silver, May 14) who also led trap to line for a 28.76 (-20) success.
Over the 655 metres, Billys Bullet (Ace Hi Rumble-Droopys Start, Oct 12) continued his come-back with a 39.75 (-30) near seven length victory over half sister Be Witch. It was his second win and fifth race since his broken hock and another huge step in the right direction; his track record over c&d is 38.90 (N).
The night’s only all-aged 480 was won by Henlow joint record holder Mays King (Droopys Vieri-Mays Princess, Sep 11) in 28.50. Charlie Lister’s Cloncunny Ardera (Hondo Black-Ardera Tara, Sep 13) won the fastest of the two sprint opens in 15.33 (-10). The other went to Richard Baker’s Quivers Lima (Blackstone Gene-Quivers Fame, Apr 13) in 16.48 (-10).
At Sheffield, Elaine Parker’s Bayside Red (Droopys Jet-Bayside Cheetah, Apr 14)
became the fastest ’14 whelp to win this year with a 28.12 (N) win for the 480 metres. Kennelmate Light Foot Mata (Droopys Scolari-Light Foot Molly, Oct 13)
maintained his unbeaten start to the year with a 29.15 (-10) open win though his winning time was eclipsed by a dog he had beaten last time out, Coolboy Blitz who clocked 28.89(N). The night’s sprint went to Thurlesbeg Pluto in 16.04.
Towcester handler Kevin Hutton used the Sittingbourne Tuesday night opens as preparation for his Chelsea Glass Trainers Championship attempt and sent out four winners. They included Glenanore Ace (Godsend-Marbeck Star, Jun 13) who extended his unbeaten winning sequence to five with a 16.47 (-10) victory.
Forest Sara (Droopys Scolari-Forest May, Jun 12) who scored a maximum in last year’s TC meeting stretched her unbeaten run in Kent to four with a 29.14 (-20) win. (Ballymac Shirley, who will probably represent the Wallis kennel on the big night won her open in 29.32 – similar going). Hutton also came out on top when Dorotas Star beat WQallis’ Droopys Achieve by three in 30.27 for the 500m, while Jet Stream Style became a 642m team option after winning in 40.31 (-35).
