Britain’s sole representative in the 2019 Boylesports Irish Derby, Select winner Trickys Dumbo, clocked 29.84, having slipped at the second bend on his first look at Shelbourne Park’s 550 yard course.
Owner and trainer Robert Holt said: “I’m absolutely delighted with that trial first look around Shelbourne. It was a bit of a rush job in the end and the dog can only come on.
“I’d like to thank Peter Harnden and Mark Pierrepont for all their help in making the journey possible. Roll on Monday’s draw. ”
Shelbourne boss Patrick Flynn was waiting to assess the final number of entries until after racing on Saturday night. By Saturday morning the figure was close to 160 and the requisite 144 seems secure.
He said: “Between then and the draw on Monday you will always get a few late withdrawals before the draw takes place.”
