There’s to be one small change to the Trainer of the Year Scoring System for 2020, which has been discussed in house and agreed by the Racing Committee.
The current rule around dead heats is as follows:
- In the case of a dead heat all greyhounds involved receive maximum points.
It is felt that it makes sense to bring this in line with the current GBGB rules around prize money for dead heats, so that the points for the positions affected are split between the greyhounds involved. The rule will therefore now be:
- In the case of a dead heat, points will be added together from the finishing positions affected and divided by the number of greyhounds that dead heat.
The rule change has been made due to the possible repercussions of a dead heat, particularly in a major final.
Existing rules
- (above)
- A greyhound shall be disqualified from a race or competition at the stage of the race or competition at which a sample was taken and subsequently found positive.
- If a greyhound is withdrawn from the final of a Category Two, Category One or The English Derby the Trainer shall receive the minimum points for that race.
- In the event of Trainers being level on points a count back on winners will decide finishing position. The count back order will be Greyhound Derby, Category One, Category Two, Category Three (Winners’ Prize Minimum £1,000), Category Three (Winners’ Prize Maximum £999), Greyhound Derby Semi Final, Category One Semi Final, Category Two Semi Final, Minor Open (Winners’ Prize Minimum £500) , Category One Heat, Category Two Heat, Minor Opens (Winners’ Prize between £250 and £499) and Minor Open (Winners’ Prize between £150 and £249).
- Invitation Races, Match Races and races that are not open to all Trainers do not qualify for points.
