WHO NEEDS PACE – Seamus Cahill
Given the draw, which is perfect for him, he would have to be my nap of the night. Obviously, like all sprinters he needs to trap, but providing he comes away he will take a lot of beating.
JAYTEE HAWAII– Paul Young
I don’t have a specialist sprinter so am relying on Hawaii to take them on. He showed great pace to the third bend last year but to have any chance he has to get it right at the boxes. Pleased with his trials though (16.36 calc).
MILLWARDS WHITEY – Dean Childs
He ran second to Lenson Sanchez in the Puppy Derby at Wimbledon and would be my first choice 480 dog if he was fully fit. But the Derby has always been the long term plan and at this stage he isn’t fully fit which is why he is going in the sprint.
CLOUDBURSTING – Mark Wallis
He won his first four at Towcester and ran well in a very tough race at Wimbledon last time out. Overall, he still lacks experience and will be a better dog later in the year. But I think he has a decent chance given I would expect trap three to move inwards and trap five to move outwards.
DRAGON BIG BUX – Kevin Hutton
He never runs a bad race and has decent form at Sittingbourne winning a £500 competition there. He is consistent with a very good strike rate. I would really hope he would be one of our high points scorers but would have loved trap six.
SOVIET PADDY – John Mullins
He has a decent draw in six and ran very well behind Cheers Tony in a Sittingbourne sprint recently. I expect him to run well and he must rate as one of our more fancied runners on the night.
