I would have made this a match between five and six even without taking the trap draw into account. As it turns out, I am anticipating trouble on the inside with Westway O Neill likely to head for the inside. Based on the form for when they last met from similar traps, it has to be Droopys Verve for me.
This isn’t the strongest heat, particularly in the early paced department near the rails. Droopys Wilbury build a great reputation as a pup for his early pace. He knows the track well and should be away and gone.
On known ability this appears to be a match between two quality greyhounds in three and six. Given his recent form and draw on the outside of a slow breaker, I have to go with Bruisers Bullet.
Not the hardest heat. Although he is a year older, Swithins Brae looked a good dog last year. The obvious danger is Lets Be Ready.
I will be interested to see how the red goes given his trial comments. There isn’t a lot of early pace in the face in general but A1 winning form for Boylesports Duke should be good enough here.
On his flat form before hurdling, I would have probably have gone for Lenson Wilson in here but given his lack of a run over the course, I am selecting Conors Blake instead.
Trap one looks interesting in here, though he is very young and I am split between the two and the four. Kevin Boon has done an amazing job with Shaneboy Freddie who is contesting his 100th race and is still in great form. Given the drawn and Sporting Dave will probably have to come from behind him, it’s Freddie for me.
Carn Brea ran well at Towcester last year and his recent trials suggest he isn’t too far off that form.
A reasonably soft heat. I would take a chance on Bockos Alfie to lead all the way.
