Liz and Rab McNair will have an interest in four of the six BGBF Scurry finalists going into next Wednesday’s £3,000 decider.
Quickest on the clock in the semi finals was King Drake who beat litter brother King Bruno by four and a half lengths in 25.89 (+10) for the 415m. The pair are from the highly successful Leamaneigh Turbo/Skate On litter. In third place was the Spencer Mavrias trained Whizzy Diamond, formerly known as King Diamond, from Skate On’s previous litter by Eden The Kid.
The second semi final went to Nathan Hunt’s Ive Got Gears (Target Harris-Dorotas Irene, Mar 18) in 26.19 (+10). Dundee June was a length and half back with Queen Franklin in third.
Rab McNair said: “I was very pleased with Drake who ran a great race though I am a bit concerned that these dogs are barely getting enough racing to keep them fit.
“The Skate On pups in particular need lots of running, and although the Leamaneigh Turbo litter don’t stay as strongly as the Eden The Kid pups, they are very hyper and benefit from extra racing.
“At this stage I am even considering whether to enter them for sprints at Central Park on Sunday to keep them at their best.”
