The track’s Greyhound Operations Manager, Mick Livesy, explained the move: “We are all passionate about greyhound racing and, on the back of an outstanding Star Sports Derby, we have decided to host regular open races.
“We are committed to owners and trainers, the prize-money has been set at £75 run money and £250 win money. We believe this is the highest run-money in the country for regular one-off opens.
“Let’s make a promise, though, to all owners and trainers, that the more successful we become, the more money we will put in to prize-money.
“Trainers and owners are always in our minds when we are making decisions. We look forward to welcoming them to Towcester for the open races and, of course, the real stars of the show, their amazing greyhounds.”
