Two greyhounds were involved in minor incidents today due to trap malfunctions at Towcester.
Lee Field’s Adeles King and Angela Harrison’s Moanteen Mikey collided with the trap fronts – in separate trials – when the boxes failed to open at normal speed.
Spokesman Nathan Corden said: “I have spoken to Lee who doesn’t believe that his runner has suffered any injury. Jimmy Wright is due to check the runners over later today, but at this stage we do not believe his runner has come to any harm. We are obviously very concerned as the dogs’ welfare is our priority.
“An investigation has revealed a crack in an air line in the compressor. It is a ‘wear and tear’ problem, no doubt brought on by us staging over 500 trials in the last month. We have tried to oblige everybody but we may have to review this g0ing forward to ensure, as best we can, that this kind of incident doesn’t happen again.”
The remainder of today’s session was completed without incident.
