Towcester racing manager Chris Page has announced that the track will indeed be racing on Sunday afternoons from February 1.
He said: “They will primarily be open race cards with an additional £50 to the winners. With the exception of maidens, puppy events, and sprints, that means most races will be worth £250 to the winner. We are also paying non-Towcester trainers £10 travelling allowance for every runner; our own trainers will get a slightly larger amount based on their existing deals.
“Looking further ahead, we have a maiden open race competition for British breds in February – dogs that might have won, but have not won an open. Then in May, we will run the PCS Puppy Oaks, sponsored by Stuart (Aero) Forsdyke.
“Things are going better than we could have possibly expected. The track has certainly sped up, hence the times are a fair bit quicker.
“The noticeable occasion was on Saturday when it was being reported that a time finding coup had been landed. Take off the going allowance, and there was nothing of the sort. In fact the following two graded races, only a slightly higher grade, were both run quicker.”
