Star Sports are to sponsor Towcester’s re-opening meeting on Sunday June 14.
Promoter Kevin Boothby said: “We originally planned for this Sunday but because it is a new track, the dogs needed two 500 trials plus the sprint and it would have left us short.
“But by a week on Sunday we will have 350 dogs available for racing when we can currently only give races to 60. But hopefully we can get another meeting very soon and we will also move up to twelve races per meeting.
“I decided to sound out Ben Keith for sponsorship and he was very gracious to agree so hopefully we can have a couple of decent invitation races. We have certainly got the calibre of dogs for it.”
Boothby also confirmed that he is currently exploring resurrecting the Towcester TV Channel. More details to follow.
