Four winners at their home leg on Friday saw Towcester match into the final of the BAGS Track Championship.
Victories for Patrick Janssens’ Roswell Raphael, Mark Wallis’s Ballymac Shirley, and Kevin Hutton’s pair of Reel Style and Memphis Mafia helped the track to 227 points, which won the East Midlands group comfortably.
Leg points tally: Towcester 73, Peterborough 25, Sheffield 25, Yarmouth 23, Nottingham 21.
Group standings: Towcester 227, Nottingham 179, Yarmouth 155, Peterborough 146, Sheffield 140.
Nottingham finished runner-up in the group but will be disappointed that they didn’t gain enough points to grab one of the two highest scoring runners-up slots.
They had one winner Beckjay Scooby with all their other contestants failing to finish higher than fourth place and finished up with 179 points.
The all meant that Belle Vue, who were runners-up in the North Group with 194 points have qualified for the decider on December 23 at a neutral venue with Hall Green, the runners-up in the Midlands South Group with 183 points, anxiously awaiting the outcome of the Southern Group, which concludes at Wimbledon on Saturday night.
