Tintreath Jet finally overcame favourite Havana Class in the race that mattered the final of the ARC Silver Salver at Central Park.
Paul Donovan’s black had met the odds-on favourite twice previously having run him to a length and a quarter in the semi finals and a head in their previous meeting.
The D1 regular made the most of a fantastic break and then held off the McNair runner by a short head in a career best 16.09.
Trainer Paul Donovan said: “There was never much between him and Havana Class but obviously he just held on today. He isn’t a bad dog and reached the National Sprint Final. I don’t really know what we’ll do with him now, with Central Park waiting for the new floodlights before we get more opens.
“I might take him back to Towcester. He was beaten there previously, but it was first look, so he should improve. Delighted for owner Steve Taylor who has a few dogs in the kennel with us.”
