Joe’s Thursday Selections

***8.01 Newcastle – Silverhill Ben (3pts) 5/1
**8.19 Newcastle – Wraysbury Katie (2pts) 11/4
*7.44 Newcastle – Untold Euro (2pts) 11/8

The highs and lows of tipping greyhounds. Fifteen points profit on Tuesday evening followed by minus six yesterday with all three selections getting beat. However we move onto this evening with open action at Newcastle and Swindon, however we focus on Newcastle with All England Cup clues at Newcastle with four trial stakes taking place.

Best Bet

The nap of the evening runs in the All England Cup Trial Stakes Division Two at Newcastle at 8.01pm. The strong running Silverhill Ben runs from trap five in a race where he can catch the early paced Skeard Josie who should take the field along. Silverhill Ben has been behind Wicky Ned, Romeo Cypher and Links Maverick in three of his last six starts. He takes a significant drop in class and can turn handy enough if getting a clear run around the first two bends. From there, I would expect him to have too much for Skeard Josie late on.

Next Best

The next best of the evening runs in the All England Cup Trial Stakes Division Three at 8.19pm. Wraysbury Katie was comfortably in front of Tonelagee last week and there is no reason why there can’t be a repeat performance this evening. Tonelagee runs from trap five this evening whereas last week he was in trap four. Wraysbury Katie runs from trap six instead of trap five to which I expect the change in traps to suit the selection more than Tonelagee who will drift in from trap five. As long as Wraysbury Katie traps on terms, she can find herself in front going round the first two bends and go onto make it two wins in two at Newcastle.

Other selection

The final bet of the evening is trap three Untold Euro in the All England Cup Trial Stakes Division One at 7.44pm. A Gold Cup finalist at Monmore Green back in August, we have yet to see the best of Untold Euro since a fall in the final at the Wolverhampton track but this is chance for him to return to winning ways by reversing form with trap four Caraxes who beat him half a length last week. Hopefully being in trap three can see him break better and if he does things right, Untold Euro should return to winning ways.

bet365 Challenge Cup

Six heats over 650m start on Saturday evening at Oxford.

The pick of the action has to be heat three. Queen Georgia, Coonough Crow and Cooladerry Dust have been drawn together in a very strong contest. Urlee Star should not be underestimated as an Empress Stakes finalist nor should Moaning Rossi as a 2023 Gold Collar finalist. It is an absolute corker of a heat in prospect. Recent Champion Stakes winner New Destiny heads heat four while Droopys Vivacity lines up in heat two.

Prices are taken from the sponsors bet365.

4/1 New Destiny 9/2 Queen Georgia 11/2 Cooladerry Dust 8/1 Droopys Vivacity, Lively Lauren 10/1 Coppice Ella, Gagas Mary 12/1 Coonough Crow 16/1 Golden Palace, Lamorna Lexi 20/1 Mad For Stirling 25/1 Carols Hero, Lokis Deception, Ruspers Dream 33/1 Fabulous Dyna 40/1 Beatties Electra, Chosen Maggie, Too Wright 50/1 Moaning Rossi, Riverside Shari, Salthill Sydney, Urlee Star 66/1 Classical Sarah, Swift Giddy, Two Spot 80/1 Antons Maggie, Glenwood Thelma 100/1 Gladys All Over, Gutsy Jet, Intrepidity, Salthill Kane, Savana Elsie, She Loves You 125/1 Savana Memories 150/1 Monleek Valencia, Savana Aurora

Pro Parker lands the BGBF Sprint

Michelle Brown’s son of Magical Bale times his break to perfection.

A 15.18 win time was the second fastest of the competition as a whole. The quickest came from his litter brother Teaboy Brownie in the semis which saw the Nathan Hunt-trained hound sent off as the favourite.

Pro Parker produced the best exit in the field and that was enough for him to see off 22/1 Jobbrruda on the run to the bend. That rival was eventually run down late on for second by the slow starting Zebedee Cluasa.

The two brothers are out of Pro Penny who produced Bang On Harry in her first litter to King Elvis. That dog was trained by Hunt and was a beaten favourite in this same final back in 2022. There is also a November 2023 litter on the ground to Malachi to look forward to.

Good Cody Unraced – Round 2

The second round is at Enniscorthy this evening.

There are some smart pups on show once more after getting a first view of them last week. As mentioned in the Irish Performance of the Week on Tuesday, the performance of the opening round was from Left Corner Back who clocked 28.68 after the going was taken off.

28.48 is the quickest of the year so far so it will be interesting if the track is a little more conducive to quicker times this evening. Second quickest in the opening round of heats was Bushpark Rodney who clocked 29.15 calculated.

Although he was well behind Left Corner Back last week, Tip Top Bundee could be one to follow. He clocked some nice times in trials and tips the scales at more than 37kg. Out of 2020 Angel of the North winner Waltham Magic, he is an April 23 whelp.
