GONE TO THE DOGS LIVE – OFF TO ROMFORD
ROMFORD will host the second Gone To The Dogs – Live! broadcast on Friday, October 18, the night of the Premier Greyhound Racing Champion Stakes Final.
The near four-hour programme, hosted by regular Gone To The Dogs podcast presenter Dani Jackson, follows a successful first venture at Yarmouth for last week’s East Anglian Greyhound Derby Final night
Jackson said: “We had a fantastic time and night at Yarmouth. The atmosphere trackside really came across and we promise the same at Romford on one of their biggest race nights of the year for the Champion Stakes final.
“Friday nights there are special, as racegoers will find out again tomorrow for the (Coral) Puppy Cup final and the Gone To The Dogs – Live! team are all really looking forward to working closely with Karen McMillan, Romford’s brilliant stadium manager.”
Puppy Collar cancelled
Oxford promoter Kevin Boothby has confirmed the cancellation of the Cowley Puppy Collar which was due to take place at Oxford in October.
He said: “Last year’s competition was sponsored by RPGTV and we had two new sponsors lined up for this year. Unforutunately, both have since withdrawn leaving us with no option other than cancel.”
However, Boothby has confirmed that the two juvenile events scheduled for Towcester, the English Puppy Derby and Bet365 Puppy Oaks will both take place.
Joe’s Thursday Tips
***6.08 Hove – Bockos Wazza
**8.44 Swindon – Eze
*8.01 Newcastle – Slingshot Sam
Plenty of open race action this evening at Hove, Newcastle and Swindon as we get ready for another jam packed weekend of top class competition deciders.
The highlight of the evening is of course March On Freddie who heads to Hove for a two round competition over 500m before heading to Shelbourne Park for a crack at the Irish Derby. He runs at 7.49pm from trap six.
The Nap of the evening runs in the first race at Hove at 6.08pm. Trap five Bockos Wazza has been given a brilliant opportunity to get off the mark having been in with the best over four and six bends including Churchfield Syd and Droopys Clue. He trialled at Perry Barr and went well clocking a slick 28.30 before a tilt at the St Leger. Bockos Wazza went out in the first round and since has had a 500m trial at Hove clocking 29.76. He wouldn’t have too find too much on the clock here to win this race and if gaining a clear passage looks the one to beat.
The next best runs at Swindon in the 8.44pm Blunsdon Standard Division A. Trap three Eze beat three of his four rivals last week when dominating from trap four and I expect the same again from trap three. Southfield Duke beat Eze two runs ago but Eze reversed that form in good style last week and from a middle draw I fancy him to trap well lead and make all.
Other fancies across the cards are Ballymac Madgie in the Blunsdon Stayers at Swindon at 9.02pm, Candolim Monsoon in the Coral Dual Distance Trophy Final at Hove at 8.24pm and the best bet on the Newcastle card is Slingshot Sam in the Arena Racing Company Standard at 8.01pm.
