It was Dartnall Night at Hove on Thursday as trainer Matt sent out a 43-1 four-timer from eight races.

The most lucrative was the home bred Humphreys Pride (Me Buddy-Junket Chick, Mar 13) who landed the £500 Dual Distance Final in 27.73 (N – 475m) with kennel mate Jota El Ray back in third.

There was a double for the Lowther Stakes finalists Droopys Polly (Romeo Recruit-Exiles Pride, Aug 14) and Away Shelly (Droopys Jet-Danielles Shelly, May 15) in 29.84 (515) and 27.89 (475) respectively. Overandout (Definate Opinion-Vicarz, May 15) completed the quartet in 29.93 (515).

The performance of the night though was toss-up between two very different performances.

17 month old Droopys Perfect (Laughil Blake-Droopys Posh, Apr 16), by two months, the youngest runner on the card, produce a fine 16.42 (N) run to land a heat of the sprint open for Seamus Cahill.

Over six bends, Derek Knight’s youngster Arthurs Impact (Kinloch Brae-Winning Impact, Oct 15) continues to live up to his name.

In the last six races, the black railer has reeled off wins in A5, A4 and two opens. Thursday’s win was by far the most impressive – nine lengths in 41.47 (N). That stacks up pretty well against the 41.33 (+15) ‘fastest of year’ set by the track’s number one stayer, Karlow Turbo

Puppy Ballydoyle Joey (Hondo Black-Fear Emoski, Nov 15) produced the performance of the night at Monmore on Thursday.

The Pat Rosney trained 4-1 shot finally perfected his break from trap one and held on to land the 480m maiden in the fastest time of the night, 28.63 (N).
