We are still 29 emails short of our target of 200 so please keep them coming.

The debate is really taking grip with GBGB promoter John Curran pledging that the subject will definitely be on the next agenda for the next GBGB rules review meeting. Look out for some of the thoughts of the contributors on the Star’s Facebook page.

Look out too for the Jonathan Kay piece in the Racing Post on Friday including some of your quotes from your emails. Keep bombarding RPGTV with emails and texts during the weekend, particularly Sunday when they host a live broadcast from Henlow for the Derby.

I plan to be there and plan to ambush presenter Darrell Williams for a bit more exposure.

The racecourse promoters are lining up to support this – we are on our way.

Finally – here are some more contributions from people who have signed the petition

I am 73 and I had 18 years Norton Canes, 10 years at Perry Barr, two stints at Coventry and 4 years Henlow. I have just moved into a mobile home in Melton Mowbray and would love a runner at Henlow again – John Wainwright

As a former assistant trainer in two large kennels and a head kennel hand to a former stipendiary steward (R.I.P) I would love to see the permit licence return I cut my teeth on the flaps at Huntingdon,Bedford and permit racing at Henlow The games gone, but this may just about keep it alive Here’s hoping – Allan Green

Yes I would like to put my name down for a permit. – Stephen Dunkley

Breath life back into the sport by this change – John White

I would be interested in the future exploring the permit racing licence – Damian Magee

I would train 2 dogs immediately if it came into force – Shayni White

My son and I have breed and have schooled 4, 2 bitches and 2 dogs. We have let go 2 dogs to a trainer and have kept and flapped the 2 bitches. We would love to race professionally all 4 but for the hassle of registration. Would I continue racing when my pups are done. . .? Diane Lodge

I think permit trainers is the only way you will bring young people into the sport as it’s so expensive to build kennels to the spec required for GBGB. Jason Seely

Owner with a passion and a distant dream – Liam Coyle

I support the call for a return to permit racing. This makes sense not only to help boost greyhound numbers available for racing, but also on welfare grounds as it reduces the need for professional trainers to own a large number of dogs purely for commercial purposes. Permit racing can also encourage younger people into the sport on a more user friendly basis. – Glen Lamming

Fantastic idea and hope we hit 200. I currently have 10 retired at home and 2 in training. I don’t want to compete with the big boys as I do it for fun – Andy Bird

If permit trainer started again I would set up again I used to have dogs on Oldham Barnsley and Bolton loved it this his the way forward get people back involved -Martyn Leech
