Third season campaigner Paradise Maverik (Royal Impact-Paradise Alanna, Sep 12) bounced back from defeat in the Irish Cesarewitch to land the 2016 Boylesports Race Of Champions at Tralee.

Many had expected Rural Hawaii to dictate the race but instead it was 12-1 outsider Ballymac Boxcar who led up from Hawaii. Pat Buckley’s Maverik was well placed and he picked off the leaders on the run-in with Farloe Joey running through the pack to take second. The winner got home by a length and a half in 29.61 for the 550yds.
