While Dolores Ruth’s Razldazl Duke has been sold (for a reputed £75K), Ger Kiely has no immediate plans to move on Sunday night’s fastest Red Mills Unraced heat winner, Airmount Tess.
The owner/trainer/breeder who declined to cash-in on champions of the calibre of Airmount Grand and Airmount Rogue, is keeping a watching brief on the first pup to race from the July ’14 Brett Lee litter out of Airmount Pearl. The 60lb black qualified in 30.07, clocked 29.16 when third on debut, a calculated 29.24 when second next time out and then followed up with a storming finish to win her heat in 28.79 (-10).
He said: “There were 13 in the litter, 11 survived, and Tess is the first to race. I have four of the bitches qualified and am very pleased with all of them. Tess has just improved with every run and I have no idea how good she is. She didn’t have a lot of schooling finally did a decent sectional in her last race. I love her attitude, she would nearly drag you onto the track.
“We will wait and see how the weather goes before we do much with them, but hopefully there are a few more in there.”
