Bubbly Zeus ran a disappointing final qualifying trial at Wimbledon. Paul Young’s dog, who landed the National Puppy Stake at Shelbourne Park in November, was beaten more than eight lengths by the 2013 Puppy Derby winner Bubbly Beauty who clocked the fastest time of the day, 28.89. Zeus was clocked at 29.56.
Sussex Cup runner-up Bubbly Gold was beaten a couple of lengths by Jaytee China in a 273m sprint, the winner clocking 16.31. (Fastest of the day was Friday’s Angel’s 16.19)
Rab McNair’s Diego Flight, who was bought out of the Clonmel Unraced Stake after clocking the best time in the first round, produced a highly satisfactory 29.05 run.
McNair also gives spins to Arc winner King Dec (16.38) and Summer Stayers classic runner-up Farley Chicken (16.28)
With the Springbok due to get stated on Saturday week, it is surprising that there are only five runners going over the 480 metres hurdles course.
Norah McEllistrim’s Fine Royal (30.14) and Razldazl Clyde (30.21) continued their Springbok preparation over the hurdles along with while Tony Taylor’s Bizarro (30.44) , Jakes Promise (31.68)and Final Farloe (30.48).
