Swindon have had to cancel trials today due to an overnight snowfall and freeze. The track, which is sheeted with insulated covers, was in good condition but other areas were frozen.
Ops Director Bill Glass said:
“The snow, as ever, initially brought the local area to a standstill, some staff living 3 miles away took nearly two hours to get in this morning. The covers had done a brilliant job on the track, it is perfect, but it wouldn’t stay that way if we start moving snow around, so with everything else around us frozen and the temperature not rising markedly today, we (very) reluctantly called it early to save anyone trying to travel.”
“Friday and Saturdays evening meetings will be 8 races, so that we can trial as many dogs as possible before racing to take up the loss of the session”
