Swindon have completed two days of trials over their new shortened racing circuit. Romford staged their last meeting prior to switching their racing circuit on Saturday night.
Magical Magood was the fastest of the 150 hounds who have trialled over the new Swindon standard distance of 476 metres. Pete Swadden’s blue blocked 28.36 having won his last A2 over the 480 metre course in a calculated 28.94. A better guide still might be open race veteran, Let Me Tell You with a 28.54 run. His best three runs in his last seven races have been between 29.05 and 29.16.
More trials are due on Monday and Tuesday before racing resumes with Wednesday’s regular BAGS card. Full trials to date – see below.
Meanwhile at Romford, open racer Millroad Susie became the last greyhound to complete the course when trailing the field in Saturday night’s concluding S1 event.
The switch-over starts today and will see future 400 metre events start from the old 575 metres boxes and vice versa. All distances 225m-925m will be retained.
The timetable is: the ‘flip’ will take place today with the first of the 600 locals due to trial over the new course, starting on Monday.
Additional sessions will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday when there will be limited spaces for open race runners.
The track will close on Thursday for additional work to take place and will resume with the regular RPGTV open race meeting on Friday.
All remains on schedule for the opening of the new grandstand with a spectacular gala card on Friday September 6.
