Knowing that only three kennels and/or breeders were represented in the 77th British Bred Produce Stakes Final, there might be a temptation to assume that it was uncompetitive. Nothing could be further from the truth – writes Floyd Amphlett.
But when the runners go to traps at just before 8pm this evening, you can be sure that this is one of the highest quality and most competitive Produce Stakes Finals seen in many years.
All three semi final winners broke the significant 28.00 barrier for the 476 metres with two breaking the track record. An event that has often been ignored by the media and betting industry, has produced a final worthy of the £13K first prize, and has produced a betting market reflecting the competitiveness of the final sextet.
This is British breeding at its best.
