Work on the new greyhound / speedway stadium at Swindon could start as early as May according to the town’s local paper – the Swindon Advertiser.
The plans have been shown to the management of the local Swindon Robins Speedway team and the paper quotes Gaming International’s Clarke Osbourne as saying: “We are delighted to have got to this stage. We had planning permission a number of years ago but it was all held up by the recession.
“If everything goes to plan we would hope to start work in ten weeks so everything will be ready for next (speedway) season. “
The existing stadium built in 1949 is due to be knocked down and used for development once the new facility is up and running.
