Russell Warren’s “Swift” dogs certainly lived up to their name at Sheffield on Tuesday night, landing a remarkable 182-1 open race four timer in a golden spell between 8.13 and 8.58.
With two other well fancied graded winners* on the 14 race card, the local handler was on fire.
Swift Aspen 6-4 and Swift Century 9-4 took both heats of the Ladies 480. 4-1 shot Swift Marvelette then won the 660m Colin Bagley Birthday Stakes.
Fifteen minutes later and it was a night to remember as Swift Bosch (7-2) a Kinloch Brae-Zaras Princess July 15 litter brother of Swift Century, won the night’s £500 feature Dual Distance Final , stepping up to 480m following his heat second over the sprint trip to Queen Adele.
Hayley Keightley’s talented bitch, who made the headlines last week with that very fast win, was unfortunately withdrawn from the decider due to a minor injury.
*Warren’s super six on the night was completed by Deltic Sahara and Truly A Blade, 6-4 and 5-4 respectively, which by our ‘back of a fag packet’ reckoning takes the accumulator to about 1,027-1…WOW
