Tyrur Caroline went to the top of the class in the opening round of the ECC Timber Oaks at Belle Vue on Saturday.
The bitch, owned by competition sponsor PJ Fahy and trained by Charlie Lister, produced the fastest time of the night as she crept under the 28-second mark for the 470 metres with a 27.98 on -50 going as she outpaced her rivals on the run to the initial turn and stretched out well to defeat Roxholme Hottie by a comfortable three lengths.
The competition started with a shock as Chaotic Lynda got the better of the favourite Roswell Flo Jo in a chaotic finish taking the call by a short head in 28.29 and another market leader had to settle for runner-up honours in the next as Evanta Evita proved too good for Domino Storm by a couple of lengths, winning in 28.06.
The ante-post favourite Forest Twilight stopped the rot in heat three in very emphatic style.
Off the track since her track record-breaking run in the final of the Lowther Stakes at Towcester in August, trainer Hayley Keightley had her in perfect pitch for this return and once she was in front there was no catching her as she stormed to a facile three and a quarter-length victory in 28.23.
Newinn This Way broke clear of the pack on the back straight in heat four and she never let up as she put seven and threequarter lengths between her and runner-up Battyford Tracey in 28.28.
Swift Champagne asserted her authority at the first bend in heat six and there was no catching her after that as she powered her way to a four and a quarter-length success over Patjennaholly in 28.19.
Paul Young pulled off the biggest shock of the night as his 10-1 shot Jaytee Vegas turned in a powerful challenge to snatch victory from Alma Chic by threequarters of a length in 28.44, a race in which the Lister-Fahy axis suffered a blow with the much fancied Tyrur Dicky finishing back in fifth place.
Mark Wallis, trainer of Evanta Evita, enjoyed a second success in the last of the qualifiers as his Aero Babooshka recovered well from a sluggish start to lead into the back straight and she ran on well to claim a two-length success over Fabulous Expert in 28.08.
