Jill Sutherst and Glenn Lynas have announced plans to quit training.
The Sunderland attached couple are as well known for the breeding as much as their training, and recently produced a litter out of their Northern Plate winner Witton Derecho.
However Glen, who originally held the licence and was one of the best know names on the Northern flapping circuit for many years, admits to being completely disillusioned with greyhound racing.
He said: “We are just tired; in fact sick to death of it. We can’t make it pay and can see no future in the game. Jill has given the track three months notice and will take a job outside the industry.
“We recently had a litter and will hold onto a license in case they turn out to be worth training ourselves later, but that won’t be for a while.
“Several of the owners have said that they don’t want their dogs going to other trainers and will be retired.”
