Georgia to take final step

On what has been a mixed week for the kennel, with King Memphis producing a record breaking but Queen Joni eliminated from the Derby, all attention will be on Joni’s litter sister this afternoon as the Time Greyhound Nutrition Three Steps To Victory is decided.

Joni and Acomb Irene both go into the final unbeaten but for the former looks far more likely to adapt to the extra half lap than the latter. She overcame early bumping before finally leading at the third bend in the first round. There was a similar story in the semi final where she found herself buffeted by Noelles Milano but storming through on the rail and pulling away.

The draw seems to have worked in her favour with the six/eight bend specialist Savana Heross drawn on her inside and the fast breaking Noelles Milano on the opposite side than the semis.

But she will need to trap at her best because if she finds the 35 kilo Queen Mother Cup winner on her inside going into the first bend, it won’t end well.

Acomb Irene is a win machine at Sheffield machine at Sheffield. She never saw a rival in either heat or semi but she was being hunted down in the latter stages of each.

Clairekeith Remy is contesting his fifth Category One Final having run third in last year’s ‘Three Steps’. Now in the veteran stage, he has once again shown himself to be a throughly classy hound who can never be discounted. However, he does have several lenths to find on semi final form. Millridge Tanic has shown trackcraft and deterination to get this far and is now back over a distance more suited to his ability.

The Three Steps sponsors Time Greyhound Nutrition are offering a £500 prize to the winner of a competition to select the winner of the big race and correctly guess the winning time. See details.
