Syd’s still got it

“Looking at his form, his sectionals are some way off what he was performing last year in the Puppy Derby, 4.24, 4.26s . . . .do you think there is one of those breaks still in him?”

“Oh definitely yes. Make no bones about it, he’s got to come away”

Churchfield Syd burst onto the open race scene in the 2023 Ladbrokes Puppy Derby. He finished lame in his semi final with the race at his mercy.

Eleven months on, there was some unfinished Monmore business. This is the visual story of the Ladbrokes Winter Derby Final

As promised, Churchfield Syd returned to his very best puppy form with a 4.26 sectional. But 11 months old and stronger, he even surprised his trainer.

Wallis and McNair double jacketed

The industry’s two most successful racing partnerships, the Mark Wallis/MWD Partnership and Liz McNair/KSS Syndicate, field four of the six Ladbrokes Golden Jacket finalists following three high class semi finals on Saturday.

Quickest on the day was the marathon star Ballymac Taylor – primarily entered in the Jacket as a means of gaining race fitness – with an impressive 44.80 run. Ante post favourite New Destiny was eliminated by a head after seemingly proving that she was unable to adapt to the small circuit.
