Donation enhanced an ever growing reputation with a worthy win in the £2,000 Hesley Kennels Yorkshire Oaks at SHEFFIELD on Sunday afternoon.

The 5-4f was led up b Yahoo Benny and Swift Burn but surged clear at the third bend to take the 500 metre contest by almost four lengths in 28.92.

It represented a seventh win in her last eight outings which included an unbeaten run through an A4 570 stake at Thurles (aggregate winning distance 28 lengths), followed by one narrow defeat on debut at Nottingham followed by a four-timer.

The final of the 660m open also went the way of the favourite (8-11) as Soars Above (Premier Fantasy-Rossa Baby, Sep 14) stepped up from his semi defeat to win by an easy five and a half lengths in 29.18 (-30). The sprint, however, saw a narrow defeat for market leader Coney McKenna with Carol Weatherall’s pup Lemming Stu (Scolari Me Daddy-Fionntra Molly, Aug 15) getting home by a neck in 16.16 (-10) for the 280m.

The form for the Yorkshire Oaks was franked by Early Mist (Droopys Jet-Diva Express, May 15) who won in 28.21 for the 480m. Elaine Parker’s bitch was finished third in the Oaks qualifiers. Her last 19 races: 8-1sts, 7-2nds, 4-3rds.

The meeting also featured a rare marathon opportunity for Ribble Atom (Godsend-Swift Erin, Jul 13). She came home alone – just over 11 lengths – in 57.68 (-40) for the 934m. The track record belongs to Roxholme Magic at 56.28 (+20).

 

The performance of the night at HENLOW went to Seamus Gaughan’s pup Powerful Boy (Droopys Scolari-Cracking Baby, Jul 15). Chasing his first win after four failures, the 4-6f had the race won before trouble spread the field. His winning time was fastest of the night, 27.34 (N) for 460m.

The kennel picked up a short priced double when  Hey Seamus (Paradise Madison-Hey Delilah, Mar 15) made a successful staying debut over 692m. Adding to his 460m (28.00 calc), and 550m (34.03 calc) open wins, the 4-11f won by five in 43.02 (FOY 42.25).

 

Katies Vixen (Slippery Robert-Billys Hope, Oct 14) took 14 spots off the Pelaw Grange 590m clock when clocking 35.61 in an open race.
