A double for the returning McNair team, a winning return to for Razldazl Raidio and another six bend victory for Rio San Marino were the highlights of a cracking card at Central Park on Sunday.

Liz and Rab McNair ended their self imposed boycott of the Kent track and sent out two winners from as many runners though they would have taken particular satisfaction from the victory of puppy King Turbo (Leamaneigh Turbo-Wee Tiger Tots, Nov 15).

The youngster had reached A1 at the track for Tony Collett but had been disqualfied for deliberate interference in the first round of the Produce Stakes at Swindon. His behaviour was impeccable in his three clearing trials and he didn’t put a foot wrong when beating a maiden field in 28.84 (all races normal going) for 480m.

Doncaster track record holder King Eden (Droopys Scolari-Shaws Dilemma, Dec 14) trapped moderately in his race but called on his middle pace to force an easy win in 28.90 (480).

Quickest of the night though was Barry O’Sullivan’s Peterbrorough Derby finalist Angry Man (Superior Product-Angry Bird, Sep 15) who improved on his personal best to clock 28.80.

All three hounds should reappear at the track on Wednesday September 20 for the first round of the Kent Derby.

The meeting also features the first round of the Grand National and Razldazl Raidio (Razldazl Rioga-Razldazl Marilyn) made a timely return to the venue where he was beaten at 2-5f in last year’s decider.

It proved a training exercise for the 1-5f who made it 11 wins from 14 attempts over course and distance and his near 12 length victory over Mo’s Bullet was timed at 29.12, just 13 spots outside his own track record.

The night’s six bend open appeared at the mercy of Rio San Marino (Droopys Scolari-Droopys Force, Sep 13) and Danny Riordan’s runner made it four wins in his last five races over course and distance with a 40.06 (642m) run.

Towcester’s Hazel Kemp took four runners to Henlow on Sunday and returned with a 31-1 treble.

The pick of the trio was evens favourite Master Kelly (Forest Master-Light Foot Molly, Aug 14). The dog with 28.15 (480) and 29.27 (500) form at his home venue made it four wins from his last five outings with a FON 33.24 (+15) win over the 550m course. Kennelmates Kilgraney Brae (27.65) and Murlens Piper (33.80), won maidens over the 460 and 550 trips respectively.

Fastest over the standard on the night was Jason Bloomfield’s pup Woobles (Godsend-Mays Peg, Nov 15) with a 27.58 (+10) run.
