Farloe Quest, winner of the Pinpoint Maiden Derby at Newcastle back in February, made a flying return to action at Sunderland on Friday night writes John Forbes.
The dog has had a lot of minor problems since then that had restricted him to just one run in nearly seven runs, but there were no signs of any cobwebs as he trapped smartly into the lead and led the a merry dance to record a 27.11 for the 450 metres, beating Burnfoot Alpha by four lengths.
Tony Macari, husband of trainer Kelly says: “It was good to see him running like that after all sorts of niggling little injuries that have held him back, but we’re not getting carried away. We’ll take it easy with him, give him a few more races and probably retire him over the winter.
It was another good night for Ted Soppitt’s kennel as he landed a double in the 640-metre stayers’ contests with Calzaghe Lisa (39.76) and Calzaghe Rocky (39.77), while Jimmy Wright’s puppy Oakvale Pappa looked good in taking the open sprint in 15.83 for the 261 metres on his second outing for the kennel.
