The return of the Star Sports English Puppy Derby to Towcester has hardly been ‘hitchless’ but has nevertheless produced an intriguing final worthy of the £7,500 first prize.
The shocks started as early as the first round with the defeat of the strongly fancied Bockos Belly and was interrupted by heavy fog which saw two of the six heats postponed for 48 hours. Quickest of the six heats was Jimmy Fenwick’s exciting youngster Cold As Ice with a 29.53 run.
