Perry Barr Racing manager Martin Seal continues his insight into the semi finals of the two Cat One events with supporting opens

Impeccably bred Signet Denver looks another nice recruit for the Kevin Hutton kennel, and has impressed in two preparatory spins. Doghouse Dazzler has just the two successes to his name, but a very decent 28.50 trial effort gives notice of his ability. Droopys Starlet won on her Monmore debut earlier in the month, and could ruffle a few feathers with her all round pace. No Worries should improve on her trial effort, whilst Newry Razl could develop into a fair stayer further down the line.

Trumps Benefit has been keeping good company at Nottingham recently, and showed what he is capable of with a facile success latest. Litter brother Do Nothing isn’t that far behind his comrade, whilst Distant Archie has shown more than enough in recent trial spins that he will be a force to be reckoned with in all aged company next year. Kennelmate Lenson Doctor has given the impression he is still learning his trade, whilst Zari Mike has made a bright start to his career for connections, and is a likeable sort.

No less than four M Lambe Construction Birmingham Cup heat winners in opposition here, and it should be a ferocious battle for the lead between noted speedsters Adeles Duke and Headford Flash. Both possess searing early boot, and anything missing the kick here will have a mountain to climb. Duke De Janerio has a peach of a draw on the rail, and should be closing in on the leaders from halfway, whilst Ballymac Conti is no mug, but nothing less than his best will suffice where just the first two will progress to the final. Cascade King and Troy Firebird need to find a length or two at the boxes, it’s as simple as that.

Blueberry Bullet ran with great credit in a loaded heat of the ARC St Leger, and will endeavour to repeat the dose this evening by taking a first bend lead once again. Southfield Code continued his recent run of good form with a comfortable success last week, and should turn handy from his trap six pitch. Barnagrane Amber and Guiri Steve may find themselves squeezed for room in the early stages, but both have the wherewithal to extricate themselves and mount a challenge in the second half of the contest. Nice As Ice could well figure early on, whilst Jumeirah Zara may be taken off her feet soon after trap rise.

Sel: 3-6-1

Skipalong Sarge has been a terrific servant for excellent connections, and all trap draws seem to come alike to this likeable hound. Crossfield Dusty flew round in a preparatory trial, and a draw in five may not prove the inconvenience it first appears. Headford Buzz is a pacy sort, and will make them all go with a decent exit, whilst Dapper Man and Porthall Blaze have home advantage, and will look to put that to good use. Cushie Rena should find improvement on her trial effort.

Frankies Jet was quietly impressive in dispatching Potent Touch amongst others last week, but will be tested on the run to the first turn in a semi final bursting with early boot. ARC Laurels winner Havana Class is expected to find improvement on the clock, whilst Coolavanny Kyser cannot afford to concede ground in the early stages on this occasion. Angela Harrison sees all three qualifiers drawn in the same semi final, with Moanteen Mikey fancied to boss proceedings on the outside, and Hardy Rebel likely to be under pressure soon after trap rise, although a repeat of his 3.48 sectional from 9th September would certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons.

Little to separate this sextet on heat clockings, and a competitive affair looks on the cards. Antigua Mememe could find himself in the front rank as the field take the first two turns, and will not be easily picked up should that scenario pan out. The Matt Dartnall trained Space Jet and Droopys Jungle made up enormous amounts of ground to reach a qualifying position, and will be dangerous if in touch as the field go out on the second circuit. Dapper Jess showed great resolution to get going again after checking at the trip, and a repeat of that incident by Bob Smith’s bitch appears unlikely. Aayamza Dream is expected to turn handy from her inside pitch, and could mount a challenge approaching the fifth turn. Three Steps victor Savana Eruption stuck on gamely in his heat, but may need to turn a little closer to the pace this evening.

Elderberry Itoje has clearly had his issues off the track, but Patricia Cowdrill’s charge got off the mark at the first time of asking in open company, and is yet another talented individual thrown by super dam Ballymac Razl. Dark Magic holds the edge over neighbour Saturn Storm on recent Monmore form, whilst Save Me Paddy may need his very best exit to establish an early advantage. Matts Malibu has compiled a near fifty per cent strike rate for connections, but a trap 5 draw may not be ideal. Some Profit has caught the eye on more than one occasion in recent trials, and should not be underestimated.

Heat 3 of the ARC Dash sees just five go to post. Gymstar Minstrel has racked up a four timer at a variety of circuits since the start of last month, and has been given two sighters in advance of the competition. Castlehill Jil has won her last three at home track Sheffield, and warrants respect accordingly, whilst Mr Roo has gone a while without visiting the winner’s enclosure, and may be in need of a confidence boost. Our Boy Seamus clocked a rapid 16.10 in graded company at the start of last month, whilst Ardera Nidge pops up from time to time.

Forest Gold showed his battling qualities with a determined first round success, and Kevin Hutton’s black will be a tough nut to crack. Burgess Dalo is running well at present, and should be in the firing line throughout, whilst neighbour Look Out is capable of a snappy exit, and will endeavour to lead round the first turn. Ballynabee Lucky was all out to hold on for third place in his heat, and may need something approaching his trial stake success to guarantee a place in next Thursday’s final. Candy Man will be doing his best work in the second half of the contest, whilst Coney Krakatoa appears up against it drawn in trap 5.

Sel: 2-3-6

Quite simply a belter of a semi final, with fastest and second fastest first round winners Night Time Danny and Bombardier occupying the two inside boxes, with Mark Wallis’ charge expected to break the better of the pair and take up the running at the first turn. Steve Rayner’s heavyweight is in the form of his life though, and is unlikely to throw in the towel if led early on. Sweet Leaf performed above expectations last time, but has been presented with a tough assignment, as has kennelmate Romeo Riot. Burgess Elite is expected to come on for his first six bend outing in this country. Savana Volcano has ability in spades, and will look to use her powerful finish to pinch a place in Thursday’s stayers classic decider.
