Romford specialist Five Star Clipper, the most prolific winner for the first three months of the year, will continue to be an Essex boy for the forseeable future.
The brindle who who extended his lead when landing the £500 final at Romford on April 1 will return to the track where he has already won 24 opens.
Trainer Derek Knight said: “He runs the track better than anywhere else and there aren’t any other races out there for him, apart from the occasional competition at Monmore which he also runs pretty well. He doesn’t get much further than that (630m), and he doesn’t like Hove. In terms of temperament, I think most people know he is a happy friendly dog.”
Clipper is now joint seventh on the Romford open race winners list, but only four off joint second place.
