Tonight’s meeting comes from Yarmouth but first a quick review. There were mixed tales from last week’s Doncaster St.Leger card
Matt Salter (media) was, as our American cousins might say – ‘joint second runner-up’ (A tactful way to deter a failed tipster from heading to the nearest high building with a sniper’s rifle.)
Anyway the man from PA went for a courageous £100 straight win on Shaneboy Freddie (10-1). Only a slight injury to Kevin Boon’s superstar saves Matt’s blushes. Net loss £100
Kaan Hughes, representing the training profession strung together a complicated mix of bets involving four runners, of which only Droopys Buick came up trumps. He will be joining Matt on the roof. Net loss £100
Now the ‘hit the post’ story. Kevin Boothby (owners) went for two of his local Henlow runners and weighed in with £40 win on 6-4 chance Idle Talker, but missed out with second placed Russelena Reggie (9-4) for another single and the double. Net result – break even.
But in the same week that West Ham won at home, Tony Johnston (bookies) landed a £100 win double with King Turbo (11-4) and Droopys Buick (4-5f). Net profit £575.
Minimal squad rotation this week.
A everyone surely knows, you can never have enough ‘Big Kevs’ on a tipping colum. So backing up Kevin ‘Savana’ Boothby (owners) and representing trainers for the first time is the high-flying Kevin Hutton.
There is an adage about walking away with your winnings, but Tony Johnston is happy to put his reputation on the line by going for another big priced double.
For the media, we have a first appearance from the smooth talking presenting, Derby finalist owning, Darrell Williams representing the under-performing media team.
Full form is below tips
Tony Johnston (Bookmakers)
7.26 – Blakes Flyer: The night’s best bet. This dog excels in this type of event , especially when wearing the red jacket. Dave Pruh’s runner narrowly failed tom make the sprint final later in the card and has come along way from has come along way since his early defeats in graded racres at Towcester.
8:16 – Inch Forward: a winner in front of the SKY cameras at Doncaster last week, Stuart Buckland’s runner looks like she should always be respected in these extended distance races in the months ahead and could be a major player in theTVTrophy.
PUNTING: £100 win double Blakes Flyer (5-4), Inch Forward (2-1)
Kevin Boothby (Owners)
7:59 – All About Class: Has a bad draw to overcome but has pleny of track knowledge and with idle talker who has not been round here before in 6 , i am confident all about class will lead up and go on to score
Meadow
8:16 -Meadow: Again another dog who has plenty of track knowledge and for me should lead up and if any bunching behind could poach a winning lead as this race is devoid of early only meadow has the pace to shoot clear.
PUNTING: 2 x £40 win singles and a £20 win double All About Class (9-4), Meadow (11-4)
Darrell Williams (Media)
7.59 – Idle Talker: Continues to churn out consistently good performances and despite the lack of a look round is well drawn unlike his main market rival.
8:33 You Little Jimbo – Shock winner in the Derby quarters here, but won on merit and traps far better in stripes. Won five from six in Ireland and has been under-estimated.
9:08 – Hiya Butt Would have been very hard to beat had he drawn red, but can get past Turbo early on which will see him take plenty of stopping
PUNTING: £20 win Idle Talker (9-4) £10 e/w You Little Jimbo (8-1) £40 win Hiya Butt (15-8) £5 win Trixie
Kevin Hutton (Trainer)
8:33 – Forest Chunk: I’m not one for betting other peoples dogs so I’ll be going all in on our very own Forest Chunk. We’re obviously disappointed not to line up in the main event as we thought he was good enough to win it but he’s came out of the race in great shape and looks to have a massive chance to gain some consolation.
We’ll know our fate early but if we clear the one dog on the run to the bend we should be very hard to beat. He runs the track very well and really drives the bends.
PUNTING: £100 win Forest Chunk (8-13)
