Following the All England disaster, we were very much back on the money with the British Bred Stakes card from Nottingham a fortnight ago.
Steve Nash (media) went for a two singles and a double with Salacres Vincent (4th) but Geelo Zip obliged for a £40 punt at 4-5f. Net loss £28.
Paul Binks (owners) is proving one of the most consistent successful tipsters we have seen. He went for a £50 win on his nap Calico Ranger – who obliged at 9-4. But the Essex Einstein missed out on the double when his second selection King Kid was KO’d at the first bend. Net profit £62.50
Debutant Danny Hunt – who chalks under the Bunny Bookmakers sign at Henlow, went for two £50 win singles. Fweshfromthesesh was turned over but Calico Blackjack did the business at 11-8f. Net profit £18.75
Last, but certainly not least, Romford assistant trainer Nathan Hunt who went for five different hounds in various combinations. First up was a successful £30 ‘Geelo’ win double of ‘Zip’ and ‘Brenny’ who returned at 4-5f and evens. Then there was a £40 win single on Calico Blackjack – job done. Only the two bigger priced selections let him down. Net profit £103
So its off to Perry Barr and the same quartet line-up in the hunt for the familiar challenge or technically – the only two Hunts are Danny and Nathan. .
Although we have a few accepted invitations already in the book, we are interested in hearing from anyone who fancies taking part in future punters’s challenges. Get in touch at [email protected]
The rules remain unchanged – the placing of a fictional £100 on the SKY card, singles or multiples. We quote early prices, but make winning calculations based on SP (since the early prices may be spread across different firms).
Full form is below tips
Paul Binks (Owners)
7:43 – Cloran Paddy: Charlie Lister’s versatile dog again has a good trap draw to work from. I can see him turning on the heels of Russelena Reggie (T2) and powering clear from the third bend to win the Super Stayers
9:08 – Rubys Rascal: set a track record leading up to the competition and has a lovely draw on the fence inside a slow starter. If Mark Wallis can get Ruby’s to track a little better tonight he should turn very handy and come home to win another big race for his trainer. He is my nap
PUNTING: £50 Win Rubys Rascal (7-2), £50 win double with Cloran Paddy (7-4)
Steve Nash (Media)
7.26 – Marians Dream: Owned by the same owners’ quartet which tasted Scottish Derby glory with Dorotas Woo Hoo, Jamie Naylor and his mates will be happy with the red jacket for their bitch, who probably owes them a few quid. Sprint trial at the weekend looks ideal prep and the draw gives her the opportunity to get off the mark in her fifth outing.
8:16 – Affane Party: Returns to his home track in great form following his Peterborough Fengate Collar success over four bends. Needs to be on his toes early with some top class sprinters in contention but his local knowledge – highlighted by two good wins over C&D in September – combined with a draw on the fence will do for me.
9:08 – Keplar Nine: I’ve kept a tenner of my imaginary £100 back, not for my imaginary fare home but if Plan A goes pear shaped I can still have a small play in the feature race. As ‘Charlie’ has stated in today’s Post, the Leger at its new home over Perry Barr’s 710m has made it an even more demanding competition than usual. Certainly whoever triumphs in a tricky looking final will thoroughly deserve the whopping £25k prize. Mr Lister’s Keplar Nine popped out to win the Yorkshire Leger at ‘Donny’ over 661m, with trouble behind helping his cause. A similar scenario tonight is distinctly possible and although the longer trip is a concern, if he poaches an early lead from his good looking draw in six, he’ll take some catching.
PUNTING: 2 x £40 win singles & £10 win double Marians Dream (13-8) and Affane Party (7-2) £10 win Keplar Nine (6-1)
Bunny Bookmakers (bookies)
7.59 – Painstown Duke: Been in good form and knows his way round circuit. Get back to wining ways with a slick start, lead on run up and build commanding lead.
8:51 – Lost One Dare: in great form, going from strength to strength. Blistering trial. Long run to bend will suit. Lead by 1st and skip clear..
PUNTING: £40 win Painstown Duke (7-2) £40 win Lost One Dare (7-2)
Nathan Hunt (Trainer)
7:26 – Swift Lucius: Hoping this daughter of Godsend can track them early on as she is a very strong sort but not devoid of early pace. 4 wins at Perry Barr already and at around 6/1 worth taking a chance on
7:43 – Russelena Reggie: Big admirer of this dog and such a game sort on the bunny. Race may be decided on who traps best between him & paddy and I fancy a ping here from Jason Bloomfield’s Star.
7:59 – Castell Henry: I couldn’t not pick my own! Very pleased with his trial here and if he brings his trapping boots he’s capable of clearing one. We are very happy with him , he’s fresh and hopeful of a big run!
8:51 – Savana Donie: Another dog that I am a big fan of from the Bloomfield kennels. Very unlucky against some of the best recently. A great draw to Work from here and a repeat of his flying trial should suffice.
9:08 – Rubys Rascal: I don’t think this dog could be in better hands , a great trainer but in particular a great trainer of stayers. An ideal draw to work from and If breaking at his best could turn very handy if not in-front. Good luck to all finalists.
PUNTING: £10 win Swift Lucius (6-1) 2 x £15 win singles & £15 win double Russelena Reggie (2-1) & Savana Donie (9-4) £20 win Castell Henry (9-2) £10 win Rubys Rascal (7-2) £5 treble Russelena Reggie, Castell Henry and Savana Donie
