Something needs to be said about SIS claiming copyright over greyhound races on YouTube. It’s pathetic. Even content put up by Sky has gone. An the owner of a prolific open racer (Maireads Ivy) I like to watch races back. Would love to watch the Mitch Millward given my girl battled for 3rd. But oh no. Yes. I can contact the stadium and get a silent clip but what is this doing for coverage? Cannot say how bizarre I think this is. Surely a bit of promotion does wonders for things. My stepdad was Ian Rice who was the Hove correspondent for the Life. He’d be completely vexed as to what is going on at the moment!

We contacted SIS who issued the following statement:

“Whilst SIS understands that it might be frustrating for this owner, SIS invests a lot of money in acquiring the media rights and bearing the costs of filming races, providing commentary and collecting data and distributing coverage of the races to paying customers. Putting unapproved extracts of SIS’s coverage on the internet without permission devalues that investment, which ultimately harms the greyhound tracks who rely on such media payments.  Uploading such coverage is an infringement of copyright.  SIS is simply doing what any content owner would do to protect their rights against unauthorised use.”
