Shocks were the order of the day in the semi-finals of the Henlow Masters over 460 metres on Sunday.

2014 Henlow Derby runner-up Borna Cheyne was the got even money favourite for the second semi-final but he was soundly beaten into fifth.

4-1 chance Coolavanny Gooch led to the second bend before getting passed by Sand Brier.  However John Gardner’s runner came again to score by a length in 27.61sec.  Simon Cull’s Corner Crash plugged on for third.

Sand Brier’s trainer Eric Cantillon went one better in the opening qualifier when successful with Blackrose Khan.

The 8-1 rank outsider passed the pace-making Cabra Sky at halfway to score a length and three quarter victory in 28.11sec.

Jim Daly’s Tyrur Serena was third.
